Stëmm vun der Strooss

Since January 2025, we have been pleased to support Stëmm vun der Strooss.

Stëmm vun der Strooss was founded in 1996 and is dedicated to the social and professional integration of disadvantaged individuals. The nonprofit organization, coordinated by the Ministry of Health, works closely with the Luxembourg Red Cross and is headquartered in Luxembourg.

At a time when it is becoming increasingly difficult for many people to provide for themselves and their pets, we want to support those who urgently need help feeding their animals. That is why, when needed, we provide dog and cat food, as well as dog leashes and harnesses—items that are essential for daily life. Distribution is handled exclusively by Stëmm vun der Strooss, which informs us of the needs, and we then prepare everything for pickup.

But that’s not all. Animals sometimes get sick, and a visit to the vet can quickly become very expensive. To ensure adequate healthcare, we make our operating room and X-ray machine available to our partner veterinarian and also provide financial support.

We hope to help improve the lives of some animals and their owners.

It happens quite often that cats and dogs are difficult—or even impossible—to place for adoption. The reasons vary: ranging from neglect to abuse or complete isolation, these experiences cause the animals to lose trust in humans, making them unwilling to be approached or even touched for the rest of their lives.

As the National League for the Protection of Animals, we are responsible for all animals. For this reason, we are regularly notified when owners of animals such as goats, horses, ponies, cows, and sheep are overwhelmed by circumstances or, for health reasons, are no longer able to fulfill their responsibilities toward their animals.

We do not want animals to spend the rest of their lives in a shelter or to suffer such neglect for the rest of their lives, causing them irreversible harm.

For this reason, we decided to partner with Hope4Paws, a sanctuary for animals that are injured, sick, or no longer eligible for adoption. Hope4Paws also takes in farm animals saved from slaughter. Valérie Tonon, the farm’s manager—who is also a dog trainer—ensures that the animals entrusted to her care, or those adopted by people in her circle of friends, receive the essential daily care and veterinary treatment necessary for their well-being.

At the farm, surrounded by fields and pastures, there is plenty of space, enough food, and, last but not least, a bowlful of attention for every animal, whether large or small. This is what we’ve observed during our regular visits to the farm.

We at the National League for the Protection of Animals are happy to be able to provide financial support to this organization. In return, some of the goats, cats, and dogs in our care are already living peacefully there.
